VISITING:

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: BANGKOK - Your trip officially starts as soon as you check into your Bangkok accommodation. A welcoming dinner will be had in the evening. D.

DAY 2: OVERNIGHT TRAIN - A free morning in Bangkok before catching the overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai. B.

DAY 3: CHIANG MAI - Arrive a.m. in Chiang Mai with the rest of the day free to explore the northern Thai capital. No meals.

DAY 4: CHIANG MAI - A free day to explore Chiang Mai. In the evening you can barter hard in the famous night bazaar. B.

DAY 5: CHIANG KHONG - Today by bus to the Mekong riverside town of Chiang Khong. B.

DAY 6: PAKBENG - Mekong river trip; An early start across the river sees us in Laos. After immigration duties we take a slow boat to the interesting Laos riverside village of Pakbeng for the night. B.

DAY 7: UDOMXAI - While most others take another long boat ride onto Luang Prabang we take the Baktrax. This means a far more comfortable bus trip north east to Udomxai. It also lets you visit a less touristed province and see the life of a northern Laos town. B.

DAY 8: UDOMXAI - A free day to explore laid back Udomxai. Maybe the local market or try some new food as well as your first chance to try a fabulous Beerlao. After dinner the energetic may like to walk up to a hilltop temple with some fireflies along the way to entertain you. B.

DAY 9: LUANG PRABANG - Travel by bus to the wonderful Unesco World Heritage city of Luang Prabang. B. D.

DAY 10: LUANG PRABANG - A half day unguided trip on the Mekong to visit some spiritual caves and local villages. B.

DAY 11: LUANG PRABANG - A totally free day to explore this fabulous destination. Again with far to many options to list. In the evening a craft and clothing market thrives along the main road for some of the best local wares to be snatched up at bargain prices. B.

DAY 12: VANG VIENG - Today you will see some of the loveliest scenery in all South East Asia as you approach Vang Vieng. Vang Vieng itself is surrounded by spectacular limestone karsts and on arrival you can sit down and relax with the sunset. B.

DAY 13: VANG VIENG - A free day to wander around this friendly little backpacker town. For the more active you may wish to take a tube down the river, go rock climbing or cave exploring. Coffee and cake in a local cafe sounds ok too. B.

DAY 14: VIENTIANE - A short drive today sees you in what surely must be South East Asia's sleepiest capital city. Without any sign of hustle or bustle beside the Mekong lies Vientiane. B.

DAY 15: VIENTIANE - A free day to explore this sleepy hollow.
Don’t miss the morning market, museum, cultural centre and some of South East Asia’s most beautiful temples. You can enjoy a Beerlao beside the Mekong, with the spectacular sunset over Thailand, for the perfect way to make a final toast to Languorous Laos. B.

DAY 16: NONG KHAI - Across the friendship bridge today for two nights on the Thai side of the Mekong in Nong Khai. B. D.

DAY 17: OVERNIGHT TRAIN - After breakfast you will be taken by Tuk Tuk, a short distance out of town to the amazing Hindu - Buddhist inspired temple of Sala Kaew Su. Here you will see a weird and wonderful collection of statues created by a renown Laotian monk. In the afternoon you will transfer to the railway station for the overnight sleeper train to Bangkok. B

.DAY 18: Arrive a.m. in Bangkok for a final night. A farewell dinner will be had in the evening. D.

DAY 19: Your tour is officially over when you check out of your Bangkok accommodation. An airport transfer is included also. B.
